I treat many common problems, including:
  • depression
  • bipolar disorders
  • anxiety (panic attacks, performance anxiety, test anxiety)
  • insomnia
  • attention deficit
  • psychosis
  • trauma

Many patients have problems with work, relationships, and identity that may not fit diagnostic categories.  These include:
  • work stress and frustration
  • work-life imbalance (especially among bankers, traders, and managers)
  • workplace issues and the challenges of creating a single organizational culture
  • LGBT concerns (identity, coming out, male-female/female-male transitions)
  • low self esteem
  • difficulty adjusting to chronic medical conditions
  • setting expectations for new parents
  • transitions to retirement
  • end of life conflicts
  • problems with acculturation for immigrants

I have trained in short-term psychodynamic, long-term psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, supportive, and interpersonal psychotherapies, as well as motivational interviewing.  We will select the right approach for you.  This could mean one or a combination of approaches throughout treatment.

I have also trained in psychopharmacology.  I prescribe medications only when my patients feel comfortable that they fully understand the risks, side effects, and positive benefits.

Some people want to see me for in-depth therapy.  Others only want medications.  Some want both types of treatments.  We will work together to find the right treatment for you.

I am a New York City psychiatrist and New York City therapist who personalizes treatment plans whether you want medications, psychotherapy, or both.
