I am a New York City psychiatrist with an office conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan. My office is accessible by most major forms of transportation in New York City. You can book an appointment through ZocDoc below or by calling me directly - times may be available outside of ZocDoc.
My services are highly competitive:
$300 - initial evaluation
$300 - 50-minute session
$160 - 30-minute session
$1500 - standard fee for a psychiatric evaluation completed privately for a NYC Department of Education student (over 1,000 conducted)
Payment is due at the beginning of each session in cash or check. Initial visits are always a single consultation: no doctor-patient relationship is established until we agree to treatment. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the whole fee. People who show up late will be charged the whole fee for the time slotted. Most people have never had these problems and providing upfront policies helps to set expectations clearly.
You can pay for treatment with your insurance. I do not take insurance directly, but I can provide you with documentation about your diagnosis, treatment plan, and the cost per session. You can submit this documentation to your insurance company. This has worked for all of my patients who use this option. It is helpful to ask the following questions before beginning treatment: (1) Do you have out of network benefits? (2) How many sessions for mental health are you covered every year? (3) How does your coverage work, i.e. deductible, start and end of the year, amount per session? (4) Do you need a referral from a primary care physician such as an internist, family physician, or OB/GYN?
It can be tough to take that first step when you really need it. We all learn how to act in ways that damage us without thinking about better alternatives. Take those first steps and give yourself a better life!
